Description
These lovely cyclamen with their bright upswept pink and white petals held high above the variegated foliage on thin stems were growng in a landscaped area I happened to be walking past in Orlando, Florida.
According to Wikipedia, in many languages, cyclamen species are colloquially called by a name like the English sowbread, or swinebread (because they are said to be eaten by pigs), based on Medieval Latin panis porcinus: Saubrot in German, pain de pourceau in French, pan porcino in Italian, varkensbrood in Dutch, "pigs' manjū" in Japanese. Flowering time may be any month of the year, depending on the species. Cyclamen hederifolium and Cyclamen purpurascens bloom in summer and autumn, Cyclamen persicum and coum bloom in winter, and Cyclamen repandum blooms in spring.
This digital art piece was created from the original photograph using Photoshop, DxO Photo Lab 2 and Topaz Studio.
